  • 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (Grades K-5)

    In June we painted on large 16x20 canvases and the kids loved it. This beautiful winter scene will be created using the large canvas. We debated offering this as an adult or kids class, it will be fun for all ages! There is a stencil that will be available for Santa and his reindeer, (Younger kids will have help with this step). This class is great for all ages, under school age will need an assistant.   • Acrylic Paint Pouring Art Class- Level II

     In this intermediate level pouring class you will explore additional techniques and styles of creating fluid acrylic art. You will practice pouring tree rings, blowing flowers from puddle pours and swiping. Each piece will be original and unique – no two pours are ever the same. This class includes two complete paintings ready to hang on your wall (not including the frames). Wear clothes you can get paint on. All supplies included in the course fee. Previous acrylic paint pouring experience is encouraged but not required.

  • Adult & Child CPR/AED and First Aid

    You will first learn the basics of First Aid for injuries, emergencies and environmental situations as presented by the American Heart Association.After lunch, your class will teach adult and child CPR in accordance with the AHA guidelines.You will also learn how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator).Manikins used will monitor your compressions for instant feedback.Upon completion of this class and passing a performance test you will receive a certification of completion. Lunch break will be 30 minutes.Please bring your own or plan accordingly.The instructor is certified by the American Heart Assn and has been teaching for ten years.

  • Bake and Take Holiday Cookies

    Oh no! Are all the holiday preparations getting you down?? Don’t fret, Nancy’s team will help you get your baking done in no time at all! As always, you’ll take home ten varieties of cookies including: Andes Mint, Lemon Crinkles, M&M, Molasses, Peanut Blossoms, Cherry Poppyseed, Peppermint Meltaways, Holiday Bells, and Peanut Butter Balls.Our new cookie this year is Sprinkled Sugar Cookies! You’ll go home with ten dozen cookies in all.In this hands-on class you will be working in pairs. You’ll be provided with cookie dough and everything you need to form, trim, and decorate the cookies. Your cookies will be baked for you by Nancy’s team in large commercial ovens.Hairnets and gloves will be provided, but bring your own apron if you like. And most important, don’t forget to bring containers to carry home your ten dozen treats. Please arrive on time and plan on staying the full three hours, as well as assisting with clean-up at the end of class.Due to safety restrictions, and out of respect for the adult attendees, no children are allowed in or near the class. You may send someone in your place if you are ill, cannot find child care, etc. Cookies will not be provided for no-shows. No refunds will be given after 48 working hours prior to class start.   • Beginning Rosemaling Workshop

    Rosemaling is the name of a traditional form of decorative folk art that originated in the rural valleys of Norway. This decorative painting is done on wood that uses stylized flower ornamentation, predominantly primary and secondary colors, scrollwork, lining and geometric elements and often flowing patterns. This workshop will teach you the techniques needed to do scrolls, tear drop flowers, and line work using Acrylic paint. You will leave with a completed project for display.  Bring a sack lunch with for your lunch break. Please pre-register by October 1st so supplies can be ordered. Workshop fee includes all supplies.     Just what it says…you’ll be targeting those “rear” muscles and central core, abs and obliques. Fast becoming a people favorite, this class gets you in and out. In no time, you are leaving with having completed a great workout. Low- Moderate difficult that beginners can do and advanced students can take to their level. Please bring your indoor workout shoes to class, as well as a fitness mat, water and towel. No street shoes are allowed inside the workout space! Class meets at Just About You Studio at 127 Oakdale St (next to Sherwin Williams).
  • CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)

    The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Instructor provides baby dolls, bottles, diaper supplies for skills participation. Students attend this class independently. Students are welcome to bring a snack. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.
  • Chainmail Bracelet class- Classic Byzantine Weave

    Unleash your creative side!  In this 2 hour workshop, you will learn the basics of creating Chainmail weaves, including how jump rings are made, how to properly open and close jump rings, and how the wire gauge and size of the jump ring affect the weaves.You will learn the Classic Byzantine Weave pattern by linking the rings to form an intricate chain.Best of all, you will get to work on this bracelet weave in the workshop, ensuring that you have a solid understanding of the pattern.Each student will receive a kit that includes enough stainless-steel jump rings and clasp to create an 8 inch bracelet.2 smooth jawed pliers will be provided for your use in the class, but if you have your own small pliers, you are encouraged to bring them to class.     This craft class is for a great one for kids and adults to take together!   Learn exciting techniques and make four stamped cards choosing the preferred sentiments as well as two cute gift projects that will be beautifully decorated and can be filled with treats.  Cost listed is per child/adult working together.  Kids +10yrs  can register on their own. Adults are welcome to craft their own projects alongside their registered student (paying an additional $24)   All supplies and step by step instructions will be provided.   • Children's Victorian Tea (ages 4-10 years with an adult)

    Calling all little Lords & Ladies to come and enjoy a Christmas tea with your parent (or another adult) in the Dunnell House. Sing Christmas carols, enjoy a reading of “The Night before Christmas” by “Mr. Dunnell” and make a Victorian-type ornament to take home. Please indicate any food allergies on the registration form for all attendees. Lunch will be served at each tea seating. This event is hosted by the Steele County Historical Society and meets at the Dunnell House at the Village of Yesteryear. Do to the popularity of this event we have added another table at each tea seating to accommodate more attendees; registrations are limited so call early to reserve your spot! Cost is per child and adult. Additional children per family are $15.00. Please specify this to staff when you register a sibling.   • Clay Hand Building (Ages 6+)

    Learn how to make slab mugs, extruder coil bowls and clay pinch pots in this demo based class.  The Instructor will show hand building sculpting techniques while using varying hand building tools to make these clay objects.  Then students will choose what they want to create.  How to add texture and create 3_D forms to every piece will be focused on, along with adding colored underglazes.  The Instructor has experience making abstract hand built sculptures and will demo how to make abstract pieces, so students will have the option to try that too.  The clay slab roller and extruder will be demoed and the whole process of making ceramic piece from start to finish will be discussed.  Aprons provided, please dress for a mess.
