Buddy & Me Rock Climbing (Grades 2+)
Want a fun activity with your adult? This beginning rock climbing class covers the safety and skills of indoor rock climbing and belaying. Both adult and little will spend time climbing the rock wall. Bigs will belay each other and their littles. Class meets at the new Owatonna Middle School rock wall. Participants must be entering 2nd grade or higher for the 2024-2025 school year. Your favorite adult could be a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, your Big, or a responsible friend. Max of 2 participants per adult.A liability waiver will need to be signed and returned to Roosevelt School before class starts or brought to the first day of class in order for participation. CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of the class, students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) student book. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Clay for Kids: Pottery Wheel 10yrs +
Kids Classes
How do you throw clay on the wheel? It’s not what it seems. Learn how to use the wheel to create three dimensional forms and vessels. Demonstrations will cover the basics of wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, and forming useable vessels. Beginners, come and get your hands muddy! If you are accustomed to clay come fine-tune your skills, learn a new technique, and challenge yourself with larger more complex forms. Dress for a mess and wear tennis shoes. Join Futura for a LIVE Virtual Spanish Adventure! This fall, bring the excitement of learning Spanish into your home with Futura’s interactive and engaging virtual class! Through lively songs, games, and dynamic activities, your child will develop essential Spanish skills in a fun and supportive environment. Hop aboard ¡Vamos a Viajar! (Let’s Travel!), a hands-on course where students will master key travel phrases, order on a plane, use passports, and ask for prices—all in Spanish! Get ready to explore, connect, and gain a deeper appreciation for the Spanish language. ¡Vámonos! You will receive a class link via email one week prior to week start.

Elementary Robotics Team (Entering Grades 4-5)

Is your child enthusiastic to learn and has an interest in technology? FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a global robotics program which guides youth through STEM exploration. This robotics program will include 13 sessions of fun, hands-on learning. Working as a team, participants will go through activities based on the current year theme to problem solve and test their engineered design and code together. This includes using LEGO® bricks powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential. This program is for children in 4th and 5th grade only. No coding experience necessary. Please note:

Home Alone (Grades 2+)

Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, managing the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Middle School Spanish Prep: Ignite your Language Journey! (Live Virtual)

Yoga Calm for Kids gives kids practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development. Children ages 4-12 will learn yoga poses, mindfulness, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing. Mats are provided at the studio but feel free to bring your own!

{YEL} Youth Fencing (Grades 2-12)

Join this fast-paced, inclusive (everyone participates) Olympic Sport. YEL’s Teach It, Practice It, Play It® approach teaches fencers new skills each class, practices those skills in kid-friendly fencing games, and then encourages students to use those skills in fencing bouts (matches). All equipment provided.
