  • Acrylic Paint Pour Workshop (Adult/Youth)

    Acrylic paint pours are simply the best! In this workshop you will learn about the supplies needed to create your own masterpiece. You will also learn about and try many techniques and methods used in the art of paint pouring! Students will choose their own color combinations and take home a unique piece of art, ready to put on display! Bring a kiddo, bring a bestie, all beginners are welcome in this no-experience-necessary class! At registration you will choose between an 11x14 canvas that is $24 per person or a 16x20 canvas that is $35 per person. Note: You will need to be able to get the piece home and it may take a day or two to fully dry. We suggest putting a flattened cardboard box in the trunk of your car or cut open a large garbage bag for transport. It will be worth the hassle when you see the finished product!!     If you had a health crisis and were unable to communicate with your loved ones and medical care providers, who do you want to represent you? Have you thought about what is important to you if diagnosed with a life-limiting illness? Have you shared this information through conversation or a written document? Advance Care Planning includes thinking about what’s important to you, talking with those who matter to you, and writing down your wishes for health care and treatment in a Health Care Directive. At the end of this three-class course you will have a thoughtfully completed Health Care Directive that reflects your goals for medical care and treatment. Classes are held at 2 week intervals so that you have time to complete requested activities between each class. Class 1: Introduction to Advance Care Planning and Your Health Care Agent – October 13 Understand the impact of advance care planning throughout your life span Identify important qualities in selecting your Health Care Agent Learn how your Health Care Directive is utilized and when your Health Care Agent is activated Gain tips to introduce a discussion with your health care agent and engage in a meaningful conversation Class 2: Honoring Choices Health Care Directive – October 27 Understand the importance of each section of the Health Care Directive Learn about medical interventions and understand how these relate to your health care Discuss what is important to you and prepare guidance for your health care choices and treatment decision-making through your document Identify what is needed for a legally valid Health Care Directive, who should have a copy, and when it should be reviewed or updated Class 3: Finalize Your Health Care Directive – November 10 Discuss and clarify any questions for completing your health care directive Review and complete your document in accordance with MN legal requirements About the Instructor: Pat Heydon is the coordinator and a trained facilitator for Honoring Choices Advance Care Planning for Faribault & Owatonna.     Get ready to get crafty! In this class we will create 25 hand-stamped cards (5 cards of 5 designs). A variety of themes will be created such as birthday, sympathy, thank-you, and much more! New card designs every time!! Never be without a card for that important occasion. Class includes pre-cut materials, envelopes, use of instructor’s stamps, inks, and tools. Students need to bring their adhesive of choice to class (tombow, double stick tape, etc.) or this can be purchased from the instructor the night of class.   • Bake and Take Holiday Cookies

    Oh no! Are all the holiday preparations getting you down?? Don’t fret, Nancy’s team will help you get your baking done in no time at all! As always, you’ll take home ten varieties of cookies including: Lemon Crinkles, M&M, Molasses, Peanut Blossoms, Cherry Poppyseed, Peppermint Meltaways, Holiday Bells, and Peanut Butter Balls. In addition to those we will feature two new cookies this year, but it's a surprise! You’ll go home with ten dozen cookies in all. In this hands-on class you will be working in pairs. You’ll be provided with cookie dough and everything you need to form, trim, and decorate the cookies. Your cookies will be baked for you by Nancy’s team in large commercial ovens. Hairnets and gloves will be provided but bring your own apron if you like. And most importantly, don’t forget to bring containers to carry home your ten dozen treats! Please arrive on time and plan on staying the full three hours, as well as assisting with clean-up at the end of class. Due to safety restrictions, and out of respect for the adult attendees, no children are allowed in or near the class. You may send someone in your place if you are ill, cannot find childcare, etc. Cookies will not be provided for no-shows. No refunds will be given 5 days prior to class start. There will be a $15 food supply fee payable to the instructor at the start of class. We cannot accommodate nut allergies in this class.     Minnesota is filled with countless numbers of Barns, most from a bygone era. However, there are still a bunch in operation as well. Professional Photographer and Amateur Historian, Jay Grammond, has travelled the state capturing images of barns of all shapes, sizes, and conditions. There is just something about a barn! There are some areas of the State where the barns are adorned with something called a Barn Quilt. Barn Quilts are pieces of art on the side of a barn, shed, or house that usually tell some sort of story. These places are all visible from the roadways, so once you know about them from our class, you can go check them out! Note: This is a live online class. You will receive a class link via email.
