Women's Strength Training
Strength training is a great way to improve your metabolism, tone your body, and improve everyday movement! Whether you are looking to lose weight, learn the ins and outs of a weight room, build confidence and strength, or join a community of strong women, this is the class for you! Learn the basic principles and proper techniques of strength training and understand the importance of breath support for pelvic floor and core foundation, all in a safe, encouraging community of women. All fitness abilities from beginner to intermediate are welcome! Sign up early as this class is popular and our class size is limited. Please note that there is no class on October 17, 31, November 5, 28.

Driver Education '24-'25 School Year
Driver Education Training is required for students who wish to obtain their driver’s license before their 18th birthday. Driver Education Training by state law must consist of thirty (30) hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Students must attend the 30 hours of instruction offered on the dates and times listed. Every session must be attended, unless ill, but even then, those hours must be made up. It is recommended, but not required, that students be 15 years old by the last day of class. Registration includes both classroom and behind the wheel instruction.The Owatonna Driver Education program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and is taught by certified licensed instructors. This class is for participants who are 14.5 years or older before the start of classes.Please Note: There will be a “Parent Packet” that your child will bring home on the first day of class. This packet will explain all the steps necessary for your child to obtain a permit and license. This packet must be signed and returned to the Driver Education classroom for successful classroom completion. A 1.5hr Parent Class for the parents of a new student driver will be offered at the Owatonna High School. Attendance in this class is not mandatory. More information on the Parent Class will be provided in the Parent Packet mentioned above. Students do not need to attend the Parent Class.

CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)
Kids Classes
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of the class, students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) student book. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Elementary Robotics Team (Entering Grades 4-5)

Is your child enthusiastic to learn and has an interest in technology? FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a global robotics program which guides youth through STEM exploration. This robotics program will include 13 sessions of fun, hands-on learning. Working as a team, participants will go through activities based on the current year theme to problem solve and test their engineered design and code together. This includes using LEGO® bricks powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential. This program is for children in 4th and 5th grade only. No coding experience necessary. Please note: the class on 11/5 is rescheduled for 11/7. The class for 11/26 is rescheduled for 11/25. Price change: This class is now listed at $104 per student (print error in brochure).

Home Alone (Grades 2+)

Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, managing the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Middle School Spanish Prep: A Foundation Course (Grades 5-8)

In this engaging LIVE online eight-week class, middle school aged students will learn essential fundamentals to build a strong base in the Spanish language. Participants will get a jump start preparing for future middle school or even traditional high school Spanish classes. We will cover: numbers, alphabet, pronunciation, days of the week, family members, and school vocabulary. Students also practice common questions and answers for carrying on small conversations and sentence structure in Spanish. Lessons are dynamic with interactive activities and visuals, along with cultural lessons, practical resources, and practice skills. Build your student's language foundation today! Prerequisites: the ability to access Zoom and basic working computer knowledge is essential. This is a live, online class. Your zoom link will be sent via email 48 hours before the first class.

Youth Spanish Studies: Vamos a Comer! (Grades K-5)

In our Vamos a Comer (Let's Eat!) class, students will be introduced to the market experience from Spanish speaking countries, practice how to order food in a restaurant, and learn vocabulary to use at mealtime.
