Want a fun activity with your adult? This beginning rock climbing class covers the safety and skills of indoor rock climbing and belaying. Both adult and little will spend time climbing the rock wall. Bigs will belay each other and their littles. Class meets at the new Owatonna Middle School rock wall. Participants must be entering 2nd grade or higher for the 2024-2025 school year. Your favorite adult could be a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, your Big, or a responsible friend. Max of 2 participants per adult. A liability waiver will need to be signed and returned to Roosevelt School before class starts. The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube "vlogger" style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of the class, the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) student book. From getting started with your business, to collaborating with parents and children, to key safety concepts, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will set you up for success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification that is valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Is your child enthusiastic to learn and has an interest in technology? FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a global robotics program which guides youth through STEM exploration. This robotics program will include 12 sessions of fun, hands-on learning. Working as a team, participants will work through activities based on the current year theme to problem solve and test their engineered design and code together. This includes using LEGO® bricks powered by LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential. This program is for children in 4th and 5th grade only. No coding experience necessary.

These classes are designed to give children self-confidence, respect, perseverance, discipline, patience, courtesy, and humility all while having fun. Physically, children will gain agility, strength, flexibility, and coordination. These classes are held at the National Taekwondo Institute studio located at 212 West Bridge St.

It's good to know...Taekwondo! Children will learn the importance of simple Taekwondo techniques such as: punching, kicking, blocking, breaking boards, coordination, balance, and much more all in a fun setting! Social interaction and respect will be the focus while learning these techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing and come ready for some fun! Class will be held at the National Taekwondo Institute studio located at 212 W. Bridge St.

Join this fast-paced, inclusive (everyone plays) class. YEL’s Teach It, Practice It, Play It® approach teaches players new skills each class, practices those skills in kid-friendly activities, and then encourages students to use those skills in introductory basketball games. Emphasis is placed on basic skills development of dribbling, shooting, passing, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Sign up soon...the shot-clock is running down!
