Work on a stop-motion animated Pokémon-themed film. Pick your favorite characters to star in your mini-movie. The possibilities are endless! Formerly known as Once upon a princess camp! Dreams come true this summer at Roosevelt Royal camp, perfect for the little princess and prince with all kinds of royal activities. Each day we will focus on a different favorite princess and Prince as our campers enjoy a week of singing and dancing, including a tea party, arts & crafts! A fun and magical week will all lead up to a special visit from our Dairy Princess’ you won’t want to miss!

3D Printing: Harry Potter (Entering Grades 2-6)
Kids Classes
Learn 3D design and modeling skills using Tinkercad while creating a wand, then create your own magical pendant. Create fun designs to complete different magical CAD challenges. This course will introduce students to using CAD modeling & design software. They'll also do fun Hogwarts-inspired challenges in TinkerCAD's SimLab. Student-designed pendants will be printed and sent home at the end of class. Printing and material fees are included. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home. Please bring lunch and a drink.

3D Printing: Jewelry Fabrication & Arts (Entering Grades 2-6)

Bring your creations to life in this 3D printing class. The ancient craft of jewelry making is brought to the modern world using TinkerCad and 3D printers. Students will learn to build 2D and 3D models on the computer using CAD software. They will design and print a pair of earrings, or a pendant in this class. If printing is not completed in class, prints will be mailed home. Please bring a lunch and a drink.

Buddy & Me Rock Climbing (Grades 2+) Spring

Want a fun activity with your adult? This beginning rock climbing class covers the safety and skills of indoor rock climbing and belaying. Both adults and little will spend time climbing the rock wall. Bigs will belay each other and their littles. Class meets at the new Owatonna Middle School rock wall. Participants must be entering 2nd grade or higher for the 2023-2024 school year. Your favorite adult could be a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, your Big, or a responsible friend. Max of 2 participants per adult. When registering, please register the youth and add adult's name for the question. Liability Waiver will need to be signed and returned to Roosevelt Community School before class starts or brought to the first day of class in order for participation. CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Let's add a sprinkle of sweetness to our camp with candy-themed crafts and decorations! Children will enjoy making candy-inspired artwork, creating colorful banners, and designing their own candy-themed accessories to wear during our camp festivities.

Clay for Kids: Pottery Wheel 10yrs +

How do you throw clay on the wheel? It’s not what it seems. Learn how to use the wheel to create three dimensional forms and vessels. Demonstrations will cover the basics of wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, and forming useable vessels. Beginners come and get your hands muddy! If you are accustomed to clay come fine tune your skills, learn a new technique, and challenge yourself with larger more complex forms. Dress for a mess and wear tennis shoes. Extreme Robotics: Battlebots (Entering Grades 4-8)

This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO). Working in teams, students will construct fun LEGO models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Please bring lunch and a drink.

“Golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the Rules. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the spirit of the game of golf.” PGA Rule Book Learning a game that focuses first on the integrity and character of the players translates to skills that are intrinsic to a happy and fulfilling life. Golf Squad offers this in a enrichment program. Students are being offered the opportunity to learn directly from golf industry professionals.

Home Alone (Grades 2+)

Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Java Game Coding (Entering Grades 4-9)

Students will be introduced to object-oriented programming and elements of the Java language while learning to code their text-based RPG (role-playing game). No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with everyday tasks using a computer operating system (text-editing and understanding directory structures) and keyboarding is required. Bring a USB drive to save your games. Bring a lunch and a drink.

Oklahoma! Youth Edition by Rodgers and Hammerstein (Entering Grades K-12)

Join us as Child's Play Theatre presents Oklahoma! Youth Edition by Rodgers and Hammerstein. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land. Rehearsals run June 18-21 AND June 24-28 from 8:30 am-2 pm. Kids should bring a snack to have during the rehearsals. Show will be at OHS Auditorium June 28 at 6:30 pm. Tickets at the door $10 for Adults, $5 for School Age/Seniors, 5 and under free.

Power of Youth (Entering Grades 6-9)

Power of Youth is a Community Education summer service learning program for ISD #761 students in grades 6-9. Students meet Monday - Thursday mornings throughout the summer and together they plan, design, and implement community-wide service learning projects. Students will have the opportunity to volunteer for a variety of community service projects, including supporting School Age Care, Community Pathways, and the United Way. Additionally, students will initiate a summer fundraiser and choose a local organization as a recipient of these funds in an effort to model how youth build community. Breakfast and Lunch will be included for volunteers. More details will be sent to enrollees as we get closer to the start date.

Tonna Trailblazers Rock Climbing Club (Entering Grades 6-9)

The Middle School has a new ROCK WALL in the big gym! Have you wanted to learn how to traverse, climb, belay and more? Join the climbing club! All students will need to sign a waiver, even if they have previously signed one for a PE class. There will be 2 sections offered. Breakfast will be available for the 8AM-10AM section in the OMS Cafeteria. Lunch will be available for the 10AM-12PM section in the OMS Cafeteria.
