Women's Strength Training
Strength training is a great way to improve your metabolism, tone your body, and improve everyday movement! Whether you are looking to lose weight, learn the ins and outs of a weight room, build confidence and strength, or join a community of strong women, this is the class for you! Learn the basic principles and proper techniques of strength training and understand the importance of breath support for pelvic floor and core foundation, all in a safe, encouraging community of women. All fitness abilities from beginner to intermediate are welcome! Sign up early as this class is popular and our class size is limited. Please note that there is no class on October 17, 31, November 5, 28.

Driver Education '24-'25 School Year
Driver Education Training is required for students who wish to obtain their driver’s license before their 18th birthday. Driver Education Training by state law must consist of thirty (30) hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Students must attend the 30 hours of instruction offered on the dates and times listed. Every session must be attended, unless ill, but even then, those hours must be made up. It is recommended, but not required, that students be 15 years old by the last day of class. Registration includes both classroom and behind the wheel instruction.The Owatonna Driver Education program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and is taught by certified licensed instructors. This class is for participants who are 14.5 years or older before the start of classes.Please Note: There will be a “Parent Packet” that your child will bring home on the first day of class. This packet will explain all the steps necessary for your child to obtain a permit and license. This packet must be signed and returned to the Driver Education classroom for successful classroom completion. A 1.5hr Parent Class for the parents of a new student driver will be offered at the Owatonna High School. Attendance in this class is not mandatory. More information on the Parent Class will be provided in the Parent Packet mentioned above. Students do not need to attend the Parent Class.

Adult Conversational Spanish: Beginner Part 1
World Languages
Have you always dreamed of learning Spanish? Feel like refreshing your high school Spanish? Then this class is for you! The primary focus of the class will be on building conversational skills in Spanish through interactive practice and exercises. Vocabulary topics will include common greetings and introductions, pronunciation, numbers, food, clothing, likes and dislikes. Grammar topics will include subject pronouns, the verb estar conjugation, gender of nouns, and plurality. Participants will learn how to carry on small conversations in Spanish and each class will include interesting cultural anecdotes including Spanish word origin, dialect differences, and names in Spanish. Prerequisites: the ability to access Zoom and basic working computer knowledge is essential. This is a live, online class. Your zoom link will be sent via email 48 hours before the first class.

Do you have future aspirations for traveling to a Spanish speaking country? If so, join us in class! Participants will learn basic conversation skills to get around a Spanish speaking country with greater ease. This class will include helpful dialogue, greetings, how to barter at a market, order at a restaurant, and how to ask for simple directions. Each class will include a travel related theme to practice real world Spanish! Like all Futura classes, a dynamic and interactive approach will be used to keep the class engaging! Basic Life Support Certification (Adult, Child, & Infant with AED)
General Interest
This Basic Life Support (BLS) training is a certificate-bearing course that trains participants to recognize and respond to life threatening emergencies, such as cardiac arrest and choking, by utilizing techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the automated external defibrillator (AED) device. Your certification will be valid for two years. Registration includes a pocket mask and the potential for an electronic BLS certification card.

CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)
Kids Classes
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of the class, students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) student book. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Copycat Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls, Basque Burnt Cheesecake & Hot Cocoa Bombs!

Add three delicious treats to your holiday celebration as you learn to create freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls, luscious Basque Burnt Cheesecake, and velvety Cocoa Bombs! Be ready to keep all recipes a secret as they are only shared with participants of this class! Equipment needs: A Cocoa Bomb silicone mold. These are available at most craft stores and online. A minimum of 2 1/4 inch cocoa bomb mold is recommended but a 3 inch works well, too. A spring form pan with an 8 or 9 inch interior will be used for the cheesecake. Participants will receive a list of ingredients and a class link in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and prep. A professionally made PDF packet of the instructor's personal recipes from this class will also be sent to you following class.
