Buddy & Me Rock Climbing (Grades 2+)
Want a fun activity with your adult? This beginning rock climbing class covers the safety and skills of indoor rock climbing and belaying. Both adult and little will spend time climbing the rock wall. Bigs will belay each other and their littles. Class meets at the new Owatonna Middle School rock wall. Participants must be entering 2nd grade or higher for the 2024-2025 school year. Your favorite adult could be a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, your Big, or a responsible friend. Max of 2 participants per adult.A liability waiver will need to be signed and returned to Roosevelt School before class starts or brought to the first day of class in order for participation. Bright Beginnings Preschool All district preschool classes for the 2025-26 school year will take place at the Owatonna Education Center 338 E. Main Street. *Registration for our 25-26 Bright Beginnings classes, both morning and afternoon, are full at this time. You are welcome to apply and will be added to a wait list. Pending registration and staffing, we may open an additional class section. Bright Beginnings preschool is for children who are 4 years old by September 1, 2025. Building a Festive Mediterranean Mezze / Charcuterie Board!

The word "Mezze" refers to what we all know as finger foods and dips. Many Mediterranean meals consist of a variety of mezze items that come together to create the most satisfying flavors. Learn how to bring warmth, color, and the flavors of the Mediterranean to your gatherings with this cook-along/demonstration class. Chef Tess (a descendant of Spartans) will guide you through the creation of this stunning mezze-style charcuterie board, perfect for any time of the year! Cook-along portion: Whipped Feta & Tzatziki Dips, Greek Meatballs, Homemade Pita Bread Demonstration portion: Muhamarra (a smoky red pepper dip), Greek hummus, and time permitting, some crispy Greek sesame bread sticks. The demonstration will also include how to build the board while balancing the colors, textures, and flavors alongside finding the best decor and design. Equipment needs: A food processor or blender is needed for the creation of the whipped feta. Stand mixer recommended for the pita bread. Participants will receive a list of ingredients and a class link (zoom - free download) in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and prep. CABS- Child and Babysitting Safety (Grades 4-8)
Kids Classes
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of the class, students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) student book. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

Create two comforting yet refined classic soups along with a wonderful French loaf made from scratch. On the menu: Tess' version of rich and creamy Chicken & Dumpling soup and the Greek Chicken Orzo Avgolemono soup. The tender orzo helps to thicken the soup while the avgolemono, a finishing sauce made with lemon and eggs, brings it all together and create a silky texture and a vibrant flavor. Clay for Kids: Pottery Wheel 10yrs +

How do you throw clay on the wheel? It’s not what it seems. Learn how to use the wheel to create three dimensional forms and vessels. Demonstrations will cover the basics of wedging, centering, pulling, trimming, and forming useable vessels. Beginners, come and get your hands muddy! If you are accustomed to clay come fine-tune your skills, learn a new technique, and challenge yourself with larger more complex forms. Dress for a mess and wear tennis shoes. Whether you're patching up a favorite pair of jeans, sewing on buttons, or learning how to mend a tear, this Community Sew-In is a space for practical repair, creativity, and sustainability. Bring your items in need of fixing—clothing, bags, or linens—and work alongside others while getting guidance from experienced volunteers. Basic sewing experience necessary; basic tools and supplies will be provided, but please bring your own as well. Drop in, learn new skills, and be part of a movement to extend the life of the things you love. Let’s stitch together community and care—one repair at a time!

Homemade sweets are always wonderful around the holidays! Add two incredible treats to your celebration as you look to bake homemade Copycat Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls and next level viral Dubai Chocolate bars. Equipment needs: 1" deep silicone Dubai Chocolate Bar mold. The bars can be made with simple melted chocolate. However, if a longer lasting shiny finish is preferred, tempering the chocolate is beneficial. If participants wish to temper the chocolate, and instant read kitchen thermometer is needed. Crafting Steamed Bao, Korean Bulgogi BBQ Chicken & Asian Pickled Veggies!

The word "Bao" is derived from the word "Baozi" which means, "to wrap" in Mandarin. Bao buns are often described as "steamed pillows" of deliciousness that are becoming increasingly popular in North America. They are created by freshly steaming yeasted dough and are then filled with a variety of flavors. On the menu: Steamed Korean Bulgogi BBQ Chicken Bao and a wonderful variety of pickled veggies. All made from scratch! Equipment needs: A bamboo steamer is nice to have, but not necessary. A stand mixer is highly recommended.
