Women's Strength Training
Strength training is a great way to improve your metabolism, tone your body, and improve everyday movement! Whether you are looking to lose weight, learn the ins and outs of a weight room, build confidence and strength, or join a community of strong women, this is the class for you! Learn the basic principles and proper techniques of strength training and understand the importance of breath support for pelvic floor and core foundation, all in a safe, encouraging community of women. All fitness abilities from beginner to intermediate are welcome! Sign up early as this class is popular and our class size is limited.Please note: Class on November 4 will be held at the Owatonna Middle School Weight Room from 5-6pm.

Basic Life Support Certification (Adult, Child, & Infant with AED)
General Interest
The American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support class trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instrumental materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

Buddy & Me Rock Climbing (Grades 2+)

Want a fun activity with your adult? This beginning rock climbing class covers the safety and skills of indoor rock climbing and belaying. Both adult and little will spend time climbing the rock wall. Bigs will belay each other and their littles. Class meets at the new Owatonna Middle School rock wall. Participants must be entering 2nd grade or higher for the 2024-2025 school year. Your favorite adult could be a parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, your Big, or a responsible friend. Max of 2 participants per adult. A liability waiver will need to be signed and returned to Roosevelt School before class starts or brought to the first day of class in order for participation. Building a Festive Mediterranean Mezze / Charcuterie Board!

The word "Mezze" refers to what we all know as finger foods and dips. Many Mediterranean meals consist of a variety of mezze items that come together to create the most satisfying flavors. Learn how to bring warmth, color, and the flavors of the Mediterranean to your gatherings with this cook-along/demonstration class. Chef Tess (a descendant of Spartans) will guide you through the creation of this stunning mezze-style charcuterie board, perfect for any time of the year! Cook-along portion: Whipped Feta & Tzatziki Dips, Greek Meatballs, Homemade Pita Bread Demonstration portion: Muhamarra (a smoky red pepper dip), Greek hummus, and time permitting, some crispy Greek sesame bread sticks. The demonstration will also include how to build the board while balancing the colors, textures, and flavors alongside finding the best decor and design. Equipment needs: A food processor or blender is needed for the creation of the whipped feta. Stand mixer recommended for the pita bread. Participants will receive a list of ingredients and a class link (zoom - free download) in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and prep. Equipment needs: 1" deep silicone Dubai Chocolate Bar mold. The bars can be made with simple melted chocolate. However, if a longer lasting shiny finish is preferred, tempering the chocolate is beneficial. If participants wish to temper the chocolate, and instant read kitchen thermometer is needed. Participants will receive a list of ingredients and a class link (zoom - free download) in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and prep. Driver Education 2025-2026 School Year
Driver Education
Driver Education Training is required for students who wish to obtain their driver’s license before their 18th birthday. Driver Education Training by state law must consist of thirty (30) hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Students must attend the 30 hours of instruction offered on the dates and times listed. Every session must be attended, unless ill, but even then, those hours must be made up. It is recommended, but not required, that students be 15 years old by the last day of class. Registration includes both classroom and behind the wheel instruction. The Owatonna Driver Education program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and is taught by certified licensed instructors. This class is for participants who are 14.5 years or older before the start of classes. Please Note: There will be a “Parent Packet” that your child will bring home on the first day of class. This packet will explain all the steps necessary for your child to obtain a permit and license. This packet must be signed and returned to the Driver Education classroom for successful classroom completion. A 1.5hr Parent Class for the parents of a new student driver will be offered at the Owatonna High School. Attendance in this class is not mandatory. More information on the Parent Class will be provided in the Parent Packet mentioned above. Students do not need to attend the Parent Class.

Early Childhood Screening Minnesota State Law requires that all preschoolers be screened once prior to entering public and some private kindergartens. . Your child can be screened from 3- 5 years old, or at least a year before entering kindergarten. Early Childhood Screening is FREE, but families still need to "check out" to be registered.

Is your child enthusiastic to learn and has an interest in technology? FIRST® LEGO® League Explore is a global robotics program which guides youth through STEM exploration. This robotics program will include 13 sessions of fun, hands-on learning. Working as a team, participants will go through activities based on the current year theme to problem solve and test their engineered design and code together. Gather the whole family and join in the fun baking and building your very own show-stopping gingerbread house! Together, we will combine the flavors of gingerbread and use the dough to create the pieces that will be used to "build" breathtaking houses. We will also whip up the perfect batch of Royal Icing - the edible "glue" that holds everything together and is used to decorate the houses with candies and delicious treats. Equipment needs: Large sheet pan, parchment paper / non-stick baking mat, rolling pin, and mixer will be needed.
